If I'm 11 now, how old will I be in 2050?
If you're 11 in 2026, the answer is 35 or 36, and which one depends on a detail most people skip. For any year, take the number of years between now and 2050 and add it to your age. That gives the age you turn in 2050 if you've already had your birthday this year. If your birthday is still to come this year, add one more, because you're about to turn 12 and you'll be a year further along by then.
Here's why. Someone who is 11 in 2026 and has already had their birthday was born in 2015, so they turn 35 on their birthday in 2050. Someone who is 11 in 2026 but hasn't had their birthday yet was born in 2014. They turn 12 later in 2026, and 36 in 2050. Same age today, a year apart in 2050. That's why the calculator asks the extra question.
Also keep in mind that "how old will I be in 2050" covers a whole year. You're one age from January 1 until your birthday, then one year older for the rest of 2050. The calculator gives the age you turn that year, which is what almost everyone means by the question.
The quick way: start from your birth year
If you know the year you were born, you don't need your current age at all. Subtract your birth year from the year you're asking about, and that's the age you turn in that year. Born in 2012? You turn 38 in 2050, because 2050 minus 2012 is 38. This never changes, however far in the future you read it, which makes it the answer to trust.

Working out your exact age
Your age in years is the number of birthdays you've had. Months and days take a little more care, because months aren't all the same length. The calculator counts whole months from your last birthday to the most recent date that shares your birthday's day of the month, then counts the days left over. Born on the 10th, and today is the 25th? That's however many whole months since your birthday, plus 15 days.
Birthdays at the end of a month need a rule. If you were born on the 31st, there's no 31st in April, so the calculator uses the last day of the month instead. The same rule covers February 29. In years without a leap day, the calculator treats February 28 as your birthday, so you turn a year older on the 28th. Laws differ on this. Some countries count March 1 as a leap-day baby's legal birthday, so if the date matters for a form or a licence, check the local rule.
Your birth year never changes. Subtract it from any year and you have the age you turn then.
Why people ask how old they'll be
Mostly curiosity, and a lot of it comes from school. "How old will you be in 2050?" is a common classroom prompt for writing about the future, which is why so many of these searches start with ages between 10 and 15. Others want to know how old they'll be at a graduation, an election, the next leap year, a big anniversary or a planned retirement date. For all of those, the birth-year sum above gives the answer in one step.
