When is Valentine's Day 2027?

Valentine's Day is 14 February, a Sunday in 2027. It's named after Saint Valentine and has been linked with romantic love since at least the Middle Ages. Today it's celebrated almost everywhere with cards, flowers, chocolates and dinner reservations that are impossible to get.

In India especially, the week before Valentine's Day has a theme for each day, and plenty of couples send a message for every one:

What do you write in a Valentine's Day message?

One real detail and one sincere line. The detail is what makes it yours: a habit, a place, an inside joke. The sincere line is what you actually feel, said plainly. "You're my first thought in the morning and my last text at night" works because it's true of most couples and still sounds personal. Avoid the greeting-card phrases ("you complete me", "my everything") unless that's really how you talk. The words should sound like the two of you on an ordinary day.

Length depends on the medium. A text can be one or two lines. A card can hold a memory and a promise. A caption should be short enough to show without a "more" button, and the long version belongs in private.

New relationship, or years in

For a first Valentine's Day together, keep it warm and light: say you're glad it's them, maybe with a joke about there being no pressure. Big declarations too early can feel like a lot. Valentine's Day isn't only for couples. Galentine's Day, on 13 February, is a celebration of friendship popularised by the TV comedy Parks and Recreation, and plenty of people use the 14th to message the friends who've carried them through the year. For single friends, a funny message about low expectations and good food is kinder than any sympathy.

When to send it

First thing in the morning, so it's the first message they read on the day, then again in person or on a call in the evening. If you're sending a message every day of Valentine's week, keep each one short and sweet, and save the long, heartfelt one for the 14th itself. A handwritten note left where they'll find it in the morning, on the mirror, in a bag or next to the kettle, beats any text, and any of the lines above fits neatly on one small card.
